We’re still here in the Parker Street neighborhood beginning a busy fall of service and neighboring. Looking back at our usual summer programming compared to Covid summer programming – we were at 22% of normal program hours for Grades K-8. At the same time, our high school program was up and running and served twice as many youth. For the fall, even with major uncertainty, the academic enrichment program has temporarily extended from five hours per day to twelve hours. The increase is a result of serving both at-risk e-learners during their school hours AND families that have chosen a brick-and-mortar educational option later in each day.
It is both thrilling and heart-stopping to serve this neighborhood during a pandemic. Please know there are new Covid protocols and Covid-fighting equipment in place to help make the building and programs safe places to heal, love, and learn.
Celebrate how God brought us through the world’s longest summer and into the busiest of falls. I miss seeing you and pray that our Great King will be with you and encourage you during this crazy time, that the hope of Christ will be alive in your hearts and minds. – Tim Mitchell
